What to do in Sardinia with Children

If you think of Sardinia, wonderful landscapes and crystal clear sea come to mind. But, although Sardinia is also known for the nightlife and for the celebrities who colonize the Costa Smeralda in the summer, there are plenty of places for families with children and things to do in Sardinia with the children.

The most suitable beaches in Sardinia for children

If you go to Sardinia mainly for the sea and the sand, then here is a mini guide to the best beaches which are most suitable for spending the day with children.

La Marmorata

Just a few kilometers from S. Teresa di Gallura, , on the east coast of Punta Falcone, with a wonderful view of the Maddalena is this wonderful beach. No rocks and therefore more child friendly.

Parking is close to the beach where you can decide whether to rent the equipment (umbrellas & sunbeds etc) or take shelter under the dense vegetation and let the children play with the sand in shade without getting burned.

Cala Budoni

With a landscape very similar to La Marmorata, this is a popular tourist area: the beach of Cala Budoni is long with plenty of clear sand, bordered by a lush pine forest.

Bosa Marina

In stark contrast to the last two Sardinian beaches, the Bosa Marina beach has the characteristic of having an expanse of dark sand. However, this is a fully equipped beach, therefore suitable for children. Opposite stands the outline of the Isola Rossa, connected to the mainland by a long pier.

Costa Rei

A stretch of white sand 8 kilometers long in front of the tourist center of the same name.

But the main feature is the hills behind it that provide shelter from the wind and form the Piscina Rei where there is a pond to admire and, if you are lucky, the beautiful pink flamingos.

The amusement parks for children in Sardinia

You do not always want to go to the beach, not every day at least. Do not fret, Sardinia is much more than just pretty beaches. If you are travelling to Sardinia with children you can have exciting days out thanks to the presence of several theme parks.

Sardinia in miniature – Tuili (VS)

“How do I take my children to see the whole of Sardinia in just one afternoon”, I hear you say? Easy! Take them to the largest theme park on the island ”Sardinia in Miniature”.
